A Romantic Adventure Engagement | Shelley + Maxwell | Engagement Photography

Engagement Photography doesn’t get more epic than from the top of Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona.

Shelley and Maxwell’s romantic adventure engagement at Cathedral Rock left us wowed at every turn. We loved getting to know these two and their story while we embarked of their engagement photography journey. Our paths crossed when they decided to make a trip out to see family here in Arizona. They decided they wanted to seize the opportunity for some amazing engagement photos while they were here and we don’t blame them! Sedona is beyond beautiful!!

Maxwell had the perfect plan to propose to Shelley. He had the ring, and he had the spot picked out, but things were about to change. As life skid to a halt from the pandemic sweeping the world, Maxwell decided to make the best of things. He planned the perfect cozy night in. They made dinner, watched their favorite movies, and just at the right time, Maxwell asked Shelley to marry him. Nothing will stop these two from creating an adventure together and wherever they go, they are each others’ best strength. We just love that about them!

When they told us they were flying all the way in from Pittsburgh and wanted incredible Arizona landscape, we knew just the spot! We couldn’t imagine a better place than the top of Cathedral Rock to compliment the powerful romance they share. The weather was warm and the tall mountains shaded our path the higher we hiked. Finally, we reached the end of trail and were welcomed by a breathtaking view you almost didn’t believe with your own eyes. There is something about staring out over miles of beautiful terrain that makes it hard to take your eyes away. 

As Stephen helped pin Maxwell’s boutonnière, Melissa brushed water from another gorgeous bouquet from Sedona Mountain High Flowers. Shelley thought through every detail and her gorgeous dress by BHLDN was a flowing dream. Maxwell was looking sharp…and we aren’t just referring to his socks! 😉 With the two of them looking straight out of a magazine, we took pictures with every last second of light before the sun headed west behind silhouettes of red rock formations. We heard awes from hikers as the wind caught her dress and sent it dancing. (Did we mention how much we adore flowing dresses!?) 

We went to bed in our hotel room that night nursing sore legs only to awake the next morning rejuvenated by the thought that we got to capture such an amazing couple! It was an experience we will all never forget! We had such a great time with you both and can’t wait to see what life has in store for you! 

We feel so blessed to be able to capture couples during this special time in their lives with engagement photography.
