Engagement Photographer | A Windy Canyon Engagement at West Fork | Kat + Stephen

“Engagement photographer for the joyful couple marrying their best friend…”

Kat & Stephen’s windy engagement session in the canyon at West Fork Trail in Sedona was our first shoot after being cooped up for a couple months at home. Mother Nature was obviously working her tail off while we all sat at home wishing we were outside! Being an engagement photographer makes us want to get out into the wild and capture out couples in a more relaxed environment. 

West Fork Trail is truly one of our favorite places to hike but we have never taken our couples there! It is surreal being in a place with so much to see and explore. The canyon walls offer protection from the wind and are a breathtaking view towering around us. Every turn seemed more beautiful than the last. When you’re there, you can easily forget about everything else going on in the world. This is a place where the forest married the canyon in a unique fashion. Trees grow out of rocks as a reminder that life is possible no matter how hard things get.

Stephen was there for Kat keeping her warm as the wind picked up and they stared at the ensemble of cliffs in front of them. The long grass and ferns whipped back and forth with each cool gust of wind. They have a special relationship that is sure to grow as strong as rock itself. The liveliness they share made this session feel like a fun hike with friends! Something about them says that no matter how hard life gets, there’s always room for a smile and a laugh! One thing that sets Kat & Stephen apart are their genuine personalities. There was never a dull moment during the session and their infectious smiles were such a joy to capture.

Inside the canyon walls we were sheltered from the cool wind that took hair, clothes and anything else that stood in its way along for a ride! We were free to be ourselves and to laugh and have fun. We just forgot about everything else! The creek flowed between our toes and made us feel like real people again. It’s funny how being apart for a time can open your mind up a bit. Maybe it was just the idea of being around people again that made us so open with each other, or maybe we just loved where we were and what we were doing, but this shoot was most definitely a memorable one!

We are so glad we get more than one chance to capture this sweet love by being there engagement photographer! We are so excited for their wedding in October and cannot wait to have fun with such a genuine couple again!
